We need wool for children

THE ladies of Malvern’s Inner Wheel club have launched an appeal for wool to help needy children throughout the world.

All donations will be turned into blankets, jumpers, hats and scarves and sent to charities that provide aid where it is most needed.

The appeal is a repeat of others held over the last few years, which have resulted in large quantities of wool being donated. Brenda Cook, Malvern Inner Wheel’s overseas representative, said: “Since July last year we have delivered about 220 items all made by volunteer knitters in Malvern.

“At the moment we are supporting a charity that is sending items to Romania, where they will go to orphanages and schools to help the needy.”

Wool can be left in collection boxes at Knitting Parlour in Great Malvern, the Co-op in Malvern Link, Jane’s Flower Box in Barnards Green or PS Presents in Upton until Monday, October 22.

Anyone who would like to join Inner Wheel’s knitting group can visit the Malvern Room at Malvern Library between 10am and noon on Wednesday, October 17.
