Only our shoes were modern ...

WALK: Elizabeth Voisey, Pat Patrick, Sue Dudley, Stephen Dudley and Chris Adams. WALK: Elizabeth Voisey, Pat Patrick, Sue Dudley, Stephen Dudley and Chris Adams.

A GROUP of historical re-enactors took to the Malvern Hills in full costume for a fund-raising sponsored walk.

Passers-by enjoying a stroll were astonished to see a medieval monk, parliamentary officer and other figures from the past striding across the peaks.

The walk was the idea of Elizabeth Voisey, who lives in Staunton in the shadow of the hills, and wanted to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

She was joined by friends and colleagues from re-enactment societies the Woodville Household and the Sealed Knot. Taking part with her were Pat Patrick, Sue Dudley, Stephen Dudley and Chris Adams.

She said: "Everything we're wearing was fully authentic for the periods we portray except for our modern footwear, which we opted for on safety grounds. The walk took six hours and was tremendous fun, if a bit tiring."

She said that the walk raised over £300, and donations can still be made on justgiving.com/ reenactorsmalvernchallen ge or text RMCH87 plus donation amount to 70070.
