Social workers sought in US
SOCIAL workers in Ledbury could soon be giving advice with an American accent.
A shortage of social worker in the county has led Herefordshire Council to look to the USA for qualified people.
The authority plans to offer a £4,000 "golden handshakes" to any American social workers who are willing to take up the challenge.
The fee includes the cost of a travel and accomodation, interview costs, documentation, checking, visas and work permits.
The authority already has 16 candidates to consider.
These will be interviewed initially at Atlanta in Georgia.
