Bird song hope for field club
THE Ledbury Naturalists' Field Club is planning an outing to Highnam Wood near Gloucester, where members hope to hear nightingales and wood warblers.
The outing will take place on Thursday, May 15 at 7.30pm, and a donation of £2 per person will be welcome, in support of the RSPB.
On Saturday June 7, at 2pm, the group will travel to Bodenham Lakes to look for a very rare wild flower.
Spokesman Alan Starkey said: "It is hoped that this visit will coincide with the flowering of bee orchids, but in addition there should be lots of birds and insects."
On Wednesday June 18, the club's destination will be Walsopthorne Farm at Ashperton, where there orchids and a number of ponds.
Corn buntings have also been seen there.
