CROWNING garlands, suitable for poets, were much in evidence at the Ledbury Poetry Festival on Saturday.
Ledbury businesses sponsored a mass garland-making session that should have taken place in the Walled Garden but was moved to the Icebytes Cafe, in the Homend, because of poor weather.
But the poet "Shedman", John Davies, remained in his portable shed by the Burgage Hall in Church Lane.
He managed to attract the attention of a real garlanded bride, who had just been married in the nearby Ledbury Parish Church.
Bizarrely, Mr Davies and the bride swapped tales in the rain about sheds, before children arrived from Icebytes to crown Mr Davies with a garland of his own.
