Re-opening of access

9:45am Monday 1st December 2008

IN view of the recent fatality at the junction of Martins Way and Ledbury by-pass, would it now be a good time to, again, look at re-opening the access to Oaklands Road from Biddulph Way.

Remove the gas lamps

9:47am Monday 1st December 2008

IN his recent letter to you in support of gas lamps, R W B Sutton missed a very important point. He overlooked the purpose of street lights which in simple terms is to light the streets.

Press coverage of Council meetings

9:40am Tuesday 25th November 2008

THE letter from Graham Myatt [November 14] deserves a response so that he need not worry during these dark winter days The delay in the response from the Town Council was due to the chairman of the working party on the SWJCS going to work abroad at short notice, whilst other non-MTAG members had difficulties in attending meetings. None the less stalwarts of the Town Council such as Pat Merrick kept the process going. The chairman of the Council had to step in finish the work which was accurately reported in the Gazette.

Purpose of Malvern Link roadworks

10:04am Monday 24th November 2008

THE Malvern Gazette November 21 edition carries a report that Cllr Tuthill says the roadworks near Focus is designed to improve the traffic flow through the Link, it will, of course, do that but at the expense of creating a huge bottleneck at this point because the carriageway here is far too narrow to carry three lanes of traffic. Even a bus in either direction will take more time to negotiate this restriction, a juggernaut will block or demolish it. This was pointed out to county planners at the initial planning notice publication but rejected without a reason.

A Sign of the Times

9:58am Monday 24th November 2008

WE moved here in 1976, when our postal address was Holdfast. Since then the Post Office has decreed that we live in Longdon Heath. Longdon Heath is an undefined area between Upton and Longdon, centred on the B4211, which confuses visitors and delivery drivers who don't have Sat Nav. Most of them finish up in Longdon village about two miles away, then phone for directions, while Holdfast is clearly signed off the main road.

11:01am Friday 21st November 2008

MAY I express my thanks to the members of the Chandos Symphony Orchestra and conductor Michael Lloyd for their splendid 30th anniversary concert last Sunday?

9:28am Wednesday 12th November 2008

IN last week's Malvern Gazette, there were well-argued letters from readers opposed to the removal of CCTV cameras from Malvern town centre.

Post Office comment

4:25pm Tuesday 11th November 2008

IN reply to Mrs L H Rimmer (Malvern Gazette, October 31), our (Westminster) government give a subsidy of £150,000,000 each year to the Post Office and this has been the same for many years.
