The Friends of Malvern’s Railway Group, a sub group of the Malvern Civic Society, approached Network Rail last year before the redevelopment work at Malvern Link station started.
They requested the repainting of the footbridge be brought forward from the planned date of 2017.
Network Rail agreed to carry out the work in the financial year 2014/15.
At the official opening of the redevelopment at Malvern Link station on Friday, March 14, Network Rail announced that the repainting would commence on March 24 and would take six weeks.
Not only has the station been greatly improved by Worcester County Council with new buildings, but the lamps at the entrance from Worcester Road have now been replaced with replica Victorian styled lanterns, thanks to funding from Railway Heritage Trust.
The result of these improvements has enhanced the whole area.
