ANYONE who missed Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society's latest production of Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street missed an absolute treat.
This challenging and exciting musical by Stephen Sondheim has, I understand, been abandoned by several much larger amateur societies in the past as being too difficult for them to perform, so huge congratulations must go to director Malcolm Hughes, assistant director Sally Watson and musical consultant and pianist Jez Francis for taking on such an ambitious project.
The whole cast were outstanding, as witnessed by the very appreciative audiences and the standing ovation they deservedly received.
The set was also both exciting and imaginative, as was the sound and lighting.
I can only imagine the hours of rehearsal which must have gone into making this such a professional show.
Many congratulations once again.
