IS it beyond the bounds of possibility that our Malvern Hills District Council, having had this irreversible destruction of the countryside (in Welland and elsewhere) thrust upon it, would put its planning foot down and insist that all rural developments reflect the ambience of the countryside by refusing architecturally urban housing schemes.

Can we believe that there is no questionable persuasion behind the negotiations and that serious concerns of residents are actually listened to?

It appears that, in the context of the Lawn Farm and Church Orchard applications relating to Reserved Matters, apart from a partial amendment, concerns regarding drainage, loss of privacy and suggestions for the preservation of historic views are being ignored.

In addition, magnificent mature trees and wildlife are seriously threatened.

Are our rights to speak nothing more than a smoke screen?

The potential of the whole matter of appropriate and acceptable rural development presents Malvern Hills District Council with a significant opportunity to become a national trendsetter in excellence.

Will it accept the challenge?
