I HAVE only recently become aware of the implications of the planning application for the erection of four broiler units at Chances Pitch, very soon to be considered by Herefordshire Council.

This vast development, to be built in an area of outstanding beauty, will produce 200,000 birds every 42 days.

Just begin to think of the logistics involved in moving these birds to an abattoir, disposal of the associated waste and restocking.

The impact of this project has enormous ramifications for tourism, the local economy, pollution and traffic.

It would appear that there are many people who are totally unaware of this application, let alone the potential consequences.

I would urge everyone to view the application details (P143028/F) and comments on the council's website to understand what is intended.

The closing date for comments is December 18, 2014, so please have your say!
