FOLLOWING a visit to the Malvern Christmas festival with my five-year-old son I can happily say he enjoyed his time having his face painted, visiting Santa, watching various choirs, riding the merry-go-round etc.
We both enjoyed the various stalls, foods and crafts available but it wasn't until I reflected upon our visit that evening that one or two things would have made it just that bit more special – admittedly for an adult rather than a child.
Oddly for a Christmas event there was not a mince pie, roasted chestnut or glass of mulled wine in sight.
Last year in the priory there was a lovely take on the Nativity with a narrator and singers, but this year no such thing.
A personal opinion indeed, but one that to me would have made the day a bit more Christmassy.
