IT is disingenuous to use the lack of mobility argument to justify the need for a cable car because there is excellent and easy wheelchair access from the Wyche Cutting to the top of the Beacon.

That is conveniently overlooked by those who are dogmatically fixated on proving the need for a cable car.

If they were really concerned for the disabled they could look at ways of improving that access if indeed it needs improving.

And for those of us who are able to walk it is a shame to give us another excuse not to exercise and, of course, the reward on reaching one's goal is so much greater if one has physically exerted oneself.

In fact, it should be positively encouraged in view of the obesity epidemic.

Also, what a pity it is to profane another part of our majestic heritage when less and less of it remains undesecrated.

I understand that many people will only judge any natural asset on the possibility of its economic gain, it's rather like selling the family silver off.

But many of us would support leaving beauty unmolested in its natural state.

If people really feel strongly about giving Great Malvern a boost they can vote with their feet and shop there instead of the out-of-town shopping area.
