Sir - The recent revelations regarding Members of Parliament Malcolm Rifkind and Jack Straw show how much they have learnt from previous scandals. Nothing. Apparently Mr Rifkind thinks a salary of £67,000 per year is not enough. How has he managed?

Mr Straw feels able to ask for a daily rate of £5,000. This demonstrates again that the Tory and Labour parties are cut from the same cloth.

I know of three Labour MPs who in the 1980s lived on the same wages as the people they represented. Dave Nellist in Coventry, Pat Wall in Bradford and Terry Fields in Liverpool.

I am standing as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Worcester for the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC). If elected I would take the average wage of the people I represent in Worcester and nothing else.
