IF by some chance the cable car scheme gets approval, which I hope it doesn't, for how long will the Beacon be off limits to us, the public – three or four years?

With all the heavy plant and equipment needed to build it, what damage will be caused to the pathways to the top? Beacon Road is not suitable for the sort of machinery needed.

Visitors come to the hills to walk on them; if they are restricted to just walking on the southern end of the hills, much further away from town, I think numbers would drop.

Why not just improve the pathways on the hills, and invest in several golf buggies and employ some local people to drive those who need help up the Beacon?
