Malvern Hills District Council's booklet accompanying my council tax bill is notable for two things.
The headline "0% rise in council tax" is woefully misleading. My council tax has increased by 1.8 per cent.
The council has, of course, restricted Malvern Hills District Council funding to last year's levels supported by "efficiency savings of over £600,000, a trend that seems planned to continue through the service review programme.
It would have been good to see much more emphasis in this year's objectives on improving services while maintaining good cost management.
Second, it was good to see that the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) has not been forgotten and that the council "moved closer to getting approval" over the last year.
But why is approval of the plan apparently not an objective for this year!
Are we to be discouraged, or is this a tactical oversight like Ed Miliband forgetting to mention the economy. Surely bringing this huge and vital five-year investment to a conclusion remains a top priority?
