What's possible

10:50am Friday 16th February 2007

I took exception to Mr J Cheeseman's letter (Malvern Gazette, February 2) where he accused me of "cheap Green talk". If he wishes to read the facts about Kirklees Council rather than hold to his own biased opinion, I would refer him to www.ashdenawards.org/technical_sum mary06_UK_kirklees_suncities This shows what a Green empowered Council can achieve: photovoltaic supply of 351 kWp of PV (also solar thermal systems) on a range of private and public-sector housing and residential homes in Huddersfield. This is the largest domestic PV programme in the UK, and represents about five per cent of installed PV capacity. All buildings were either refurbished or newly built to high environmental standards, so households gained the benefits of energy efficiency as well.

I only wish that our own LibDem/Tory district council were in a position to achieve the same in relation to North Site and all new build.

I know the lone Green councillor is doing all he can to achieve the best result at North Site.

The only reason Mr Cheeseman has attacked Di Rayner and myself is that he has announced his candidacy for the Conservative Party for the Wells on the district council!

After all the national Tory hot air about "being green", this surely exemplifies their real core values.

Malcolm Victory, Wells Road, Malvern.
