I attended the hustings in Christchurch, Malvern, and how dull it was!

There were 10 questions, chosen from those submitted within a deadline, and theywere given to the candidates well in advance so they could prepare their responses.

No debating was allowed, nor were questions and comments from the floor, and applause and heckling were discouraged.

The topics were all the predictable staples: wealth equality, housing, immigration, NHS, EU, climate change, Trident, coalition, tax dodging and most admired person.

No chance to slip in something contentious, such as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) or breaking news such as the breakdown of A&E provision throughout Worcestershire.

The Lib Dem failed to challenge UKIP on their opposition to environmental grants.

The Green failed to pick up on Labour's spotting the jobs and business possibilities for dealing with climate change.

Nobody challenged the Conservative for her unsupported assertions on employment and the economy.

What we got was 60 pre-pared statements read out, nearly all following the party line, all neatly packaged, and none challenged.

It was like watching five interchangeable heads sitting on five party androids.
