MALVERN must rate as one of the most beautiful towns in Britain – there are many tirelessly working to make it so.
I would like to acknowledge the work of two of our local heroes, doing possibly their final events this year despite facing serious health conditions.
Lionel Shorestone has just completed his eighth year organising the hugely popular well dressing event, dressing 40-plus wells in recent years, with beautiful, spectacular, and ingenious displays across the hills.
It must be the largest event of its kind in Britain, honouring the vital place water has in our lives. Separate, but linked, is Val Needham's donkey processions.
These fund-raise for a donkey charity and the Spa Association.
They are life-enhancing, warm-hearted celebrations of love for the hills, and a space to feel their living spirit.
Thanks, Lionel, and thanks, Val, for all you have brought to us.
