I AGREE with Roger Morgan (June 19) that extending the Worcester ring road to actually make it a 'ring' along with a flyover at the Ketch roundabout would provide huge benefits, as would a flyover at the Powick roundabout.
I also feel that the new lane markings in the dual carriageway have negated the benefits of this road widening as only one lane is marked to go straight on where the vast majority of traffic is heading!
A proposed M5 junction for Malvern would be far too expensive and unnecessary for very many years, but as the A38 is no longer a major route and is also under used since the M5 was built, could this be part of the solution?
A new link road from the A38 between Clifton and Severn Stoke to The Rhydd linking the B4211 Guarlford Road a distance of less than a mile would provide much improved access to Malvern to and from the M5 either via the Ketch or M50 junctions thus avoiding bottlenecks at Powick or Upton.
This may require some minor road improvements along the way, but would be far more cost effective than a new M5 junction!
