AS someone who attended the initial open meeting to discuss the possibility of Malvern's involvement in the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation Scheme, I am saddened by the fact that we have not yet been able to find a way of playing our part in helping to welcome those who have suffered so much, and who are in great need of relocation.
I fully support the points that Jane Knowles makes in her letter (July 17), which address several misconceptions about the scheme.
Whatever our faith or political allegiance, surely it is in the interests of our common humanity that we do all that we can to support this compassionate initiative?
And for those of us who profess to be Christian, we do well to recall some challenging words of Jesus: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me" (Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 25).
