Double yellow lines are not wanted

Have Malvern Hills councillors finally lost their marbles?

This cash-strapped council has just wasted time and money painting double yellow lines for half a mile on both sides of Jubilee Drive at British Camp.

This area of outstanding natural beauty has been turned from a pleasant rural environment into an urban street scene and for no good reason - unless the council is in collusion with the Conservators to maximise car parking revenue?

I do not believe there has ever been an accident caused by parking along this stretch of road - indeed the cars parked there had the beneficial effect of slowing down all the traffic. Even the local residents have protested to the council about this absurd waste of money.

Apart from the expense of painting the lines, who is going to monitor the illegal parking? Will MHDC be sending an employee at regular and expensive intervals to hand out parking tickets? Or perhaps they will rely on the hard pressed police who were last seen patrolling this area in 1997?

Surely MHDC have better things to do with ratepayers money than deliberately defiling a naturally beautiful area like British Camp.

These yellow lines and some , which would be even more welcome , on West Malvern Road were advertised some time ago ,and again earlier this month, by Hereford Council (not MHDC). That was the time to object , not to moan after the event
If the relevant authority would like to provide an address I ,for one , would be happy to Email photographs of any vehicle contravening the lines which apply at any time (including Sundays and Bank Holidays)
