I've taken a lot of interest in the recent discussion regarding Orford Way. I really see no justification in the residents' gripes. They should try living in Old Wyche Road!
At least they have pavements and room for two cars to pass easily. This also is an access only road, but also the top end is one way, downwards.
Does this make any difference to the people who think it is their right to use the road any which way they choose? There are no-entry signs enough, on poles and the road itself.
The other day, a chap came down the road, passing all the vehicles facing downhill. He parked on the two-way section and went into a neighbour's premises, came out and proceeded to turn round (with difficulty) and try to go up the hill.
When I pointed out his error, he said he hadn't noticed the signs. How do these people pass their driving test? When I moved here four years ago, I knew what I was up against, because my new neighbours had given me chapter and verse.
Letters to the council, police, papers etc, the taking of licence plates, all this and no relief from some of the populace that see fit to flaunt the law along with the abuse that comes when you point out the folly of their ways.
I'm willing to put up with my lot, Orford Way residents should put up with theirs.
