I READ with interest in the Malvern Gazette of June 5 about the call to women to run the Cancer Research UK Race for Life. Cancer Research UK use animals in their research.

A cross party group of MPs is attempting to bring a revolutionary proposal to evaluate animal tests for drug safety into law by launching the Safety of Medicines (Evaluation) Bill. The Bill calls for a comparison of currently run animal tests with a set of human biology based tests. There is evidence that human biology based technologies may be more predictive of safety for humans: hence the need for a scientific comparison.
