COUNCILLOR Watkins should be dismissed from the Council for the proposed 200% increase to parking permits in Malvern.
In these hard times for traders, they will lose trade from people who will not pay this vast increase for permits. They will stay away from the town centre and instead will move more towards multi-store shops with free parking.
Two of my five cars have permits to park in Malvern car parks and the Council will loose both is this increase goes ahead.
Instead I propose get a full time traffic warden in Malvern to fine car owners that are not parked legally. The money from this can support the Council's funds for car parks and leave the permit charge at £15.
Dismiss Councillor Watkins to pay for the traffic wardens' wages, then the Council will have plenty of money left in the funds for more urgent proposed problems in Malvern No golden hand shake to those who retire from the Council but free parking permit for life if they still live in Malvern, that's another large saving for the Council and rate payers.
I hope this reaches home to other Council officers that many people and myself will not put up with these outstanding proposed changes in Malvern.
