We need change

I WAS interested to read the views of Roger Allsop regarding the planning application for a Sainsbury’s store in Ledbury. Mr Allsop currently owns many of the commercial properties in the town and so has a personal interest in ensuring that the businesses who operate from these premises continue to trade and so pay the rent – that is understandable.

However, it would no doubt, have been an different scenario if Mr Allsop had owned the Galebreaker site, which is the proposed location for the Sainsbury’s store. We may well have then seen him strongly recommending this proposal.

This is yet another example of someone who is not looking to the future of Ledbury which, without change, will eventually become a retirement area populated by elderly people who are likely to spend very little on shopping locally or reside in care homes that purchase in bulk from the cheapest suppliers.
