Don’t get mad...

ONCE again, shopping at Waitrose is on the letters page. People, do you realise that Waitrose is not the centre of the universe?

Last summer I decided online grocery shopping didn’t work for me any more so I went back to Waitrose.

It didn’t take long to become fed up with paying their exorbitant prices for day-to-day items, so I broke free of the yoke and drove those extra couple of miles to their biggest rival around here.

Once I got used to the harsher atmosphere, the size and layout, and once I got over the fact that the staff don’t usually have much time for shoppers, waving a hand in the general direction of an item rather than personally assisting me to it, powdering my nose on the way and wishing me a happy day, I found it great for the family shop.

Heaps and heaps of BOGOF/three-fortwo offers on stuff you actually use, a good deli, an excellent fish counter, superior bread and 99 per cent of the stuff you get in Waitrose only much, much cheaper. And you can fill up your car with petrol at the same time. I have saved literally hundreds of pounds since going there instead of Waitrose.

So I tell you disgruntled Waitrose shoppers, don’t get mad, get outta there; it’ll make you realise how over-rated and over-priced Waitrose is.
