I HAVE read with interest the Ledbury debate regarding new store openings.
My recent experience leads me to believe more competition would be a good thing.
In Malvern we only have one of the big four supermarkets, Morrisons.
I recently had a dispute with a 15p fuel discount promotion.
I asked instore to see the checkout supervisor who refused to see me.
I asked then to see the store manager who refused to see me.
Not happy with this I hand delivered a letter to the store manager and in two weeks he has not bothered to reply.
I have since written to the company chief executive in Bradford and even he hasn't bothered to respond.
My wife and I have shopped weekly at Morrisons since it opened and always considered ourselves ‘loyal customers’.
Clearly it is of no importance to them and with few options they do not feel the need to value any customer.
I say please can we have some competition and quickly!
Following the fuel cost debate aired recently in this column, in Ipswich Morrisons (where there is strong competition) diesel price is 142.9p per litre whilst being 146.9p here in Malvern.
