My last word
9:21am Monday 2nd April 2012 in Letters
IT was not my intention to enter into a ping-pong exchange of letters regarding the Sainsbury saga (this is my last regardless of the response), merely to point out that some of the reasons for putting the High Street at risk seem frivolous in the extreme.
A once-a-year purchase of school uniforms, another garage where fuel would be cheaper (I must have missed the by-law that said if you live in Ledbury you have to buy your fuel in Ledbury), and yet Mr White seems to have missed the point totally (letters page, March 16).
As for Mr White’s fantasy the coming of Sainsbury’s will reduce the global carbon footprint, does he think that goods arrive at Sainsbury’s by magic carpet.
How does he acquaint that to the none stop seven days per week day and night convoy of heavy goods vehicles delivering to the store?
Not to mention the possibility of Sainsbury vehicles racing around the area on home deliveries all day and every day!
Once again a total misunderstanding of the situation, thankfully the people who made the final decision did.
However, I repeat it is at long last over, I had no idea my letter would create such a “hissy fit”
and be the cause of dollies being thrown out of prams.
Now that the Sainsbury’, invasion o f Ledbury is dead in the w a t e r , it’s time to move on.
T i m e to be a brave little soldier and get on with life.
