Social assassins

WITH regard to our letters (Ledbury Reporter, March 23) and subsequent responses (Ledbury Reporter March 30) in particular John Charles, Ed Hogan and Tim Rae-Clarke, I have to say I am sick and tired of the sarcastic, condescending attitudes of these people, who portray they are educated and promote democracy.

These members of a local clique, instead of making sensible contributions, decide that together they will berate anyone they believe to be of a low financial or social standing and will not tolerate anybody who disagrees with what they dictate.

And now they’ve got their teeth into the Town Council demanding elections.

We do not believe the lack of candidates can be attributed to apathy, in fact there are many good folk who would stand for election, were it not for the fact they would face torment from these social assassins. Let’s hope no election is called or the Town Council will probably be run by this clique of over-educated people who would serve as much purpose as a lighthouse in the desert, bright but totally useless.

Hoping that common sense and good manners prevail.
