IN reply to Monica Edge (Letters, Ledbury Reporter, April 20), the town did not say no to the Sainsbury's application. An anti-campaign, half the town council, the mayor and Herefordshire planning committee said no. Are we to assume by your comments that these people speak for the whole of the town because if that is the case then god help us.
The assumption has always been that the majority didn't want the store, an assumption backed up by a petition taken against a different application populated by those very local Ledbury people who happen to have addresses in Australia, Canada and Devon to name but three.
True, the LESS group withdrew the request for a town referendum on the store, quite possibly a mistake on our part, but in no way does the no decision reflect the majority of Ledbury.
