IN response to comments made in the Ledbury Reporter I feel I must comment on Mr Hogan saying that you can buy children’s clothing and shoes.
Most people living in Ledbury are on low incomes (six per cent lower than the rest of the country), therefore to buy several pairs of shoes every three to four months from the shoe shops is not an option families have and the same is applicable for hardwearing everyday children’s clothing.
I also must comment on the role of a town councillor. We attend two to three meetings most weeks of the year voluntarily (no expenses paid). This is on top of a duty to sit on various sub committees in the day or evening.
I am very concerned that Ledbury should be proactive in encouraging new employment opportunities for the young people/unemployed of our town and therefore think that we must embrace change however controversial it may be.
