POETRY and planting have provided an inspiring learning opportunity for Busy Bees youngsters in Ledbury.
The pre-school youngsters have all taken sunflower poem and a sunflower seed home with them, along with instructions on what to do.
Busy Bees manager, Emma Davis said: "The idea is that children and parents plant the seed together, with the project extending the learning which takes place at Busy Bees.
"We have suggested that parents could encourage the children to think about what the seed needs to grow, where it will grow best and how tall it will grow. As it germinates, we are asking parents to measure the stem with their child, encouraging them to recognise numbers and record it's growth. Parents upload photos and information to an online Learning Journey so we can talk to the child about their sunflower when they are at Busy Bees."
She added: "Children love to show each other their photos from home so projects like this are always a real success, and we are running the project as a competition so the children with the tallest sunflowers will win a prize."
