Brigade called out to fallen power line

LEDBURY firefighters were called to Bargains Lane in Little Marcle, following reports that broken power lines had fallen into a field and onto a private drive.

The crew from Ledbury's Bye Street Station found that one cable was sparking on the drive, close to a parked car and tree.

The tarmac had been scorched by the heat.

Another cable had fallen into a wheat field, but fortunately did not set the crop alight.

The firefighters remained on the scene on Tuesday afternoon, until Aquila engineers arrived to cut off power to the cables and fix them.
