LEDBURY MP Bill Wiggin is calling for state-of-the-art radiotherapy equipment to go to Herefordshire County Hospital instead of Worcester.
The Three Counties Cancer Network must decide where the linac accelerator must go and a consultation process is under way.
Mr Wiggin said: “There has been a campaign by Worcester MPs to get this machinery put into Worcester hospital.
“I have always believed that Herefordshire was the right place for this, due to the suffering to patients caused at present by long journeys to Gloucestershire.”
He added: “It is regrettable that there is only one linac accelerator on offer at the moment and that Worcestershire has delayed matters further by initiating a consultation process.”
Mr Wiggin has written with his views to the Primary Care Trusts of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire and also to the Three Counties Cancer Network.
