TV presenter to open onion event

CENTRAL News presenter Anna Brees will open this year’s Newent Onion Fayre, on Saturday, September 13, at 10.30am.
Over 100 stands will help to make this one of the largest-ever onion fairs and other attractions will include a faiground and live music.
Town centre bands will include Al Boden and the Organic Hillbillies, Matt Conner and the Carrot Crunchers, Electric Fred, Banshee and the Bubonic Wind Band.
The Glebe Chapel Choir will perform in the Good News Centre gardens from noon, and various dancing groups will perform in the streets.
There will be a display of wedding dresses in St Mary’s Church.
Lakeside will see a display of model boats and the Youth Angling Project will give youngsters the chance to cast a line, under expert instruction.
