ATTENDANCE figures for this year’s Big Chill Festival at Eastnor were even higher than was estimated at the time.

Organisers put attendance at 39,000, but a Herefordshire Council review of the event, carried out this week, has put the actual total at over 40,000, a record for the festival.

The authority’s head of the environment, Paul Nicholas, said: “The Big Chill has enjoyed rave reviews in the national press and its success shows that Herefordshire can host even the largest and most complex event, which is now firmly established at the heart of the national festival calendar.”

The first Big Chill took place in 2001.
