LEDBURY people have responded in numbers to a petition launched by disabled pensioner Ron Collins to keep St Katherine’s car park a long stay car park.
Mr Collins and other residents at the St Katherine’s Alms House rely on being able to park close to their homes.
But with Herefordshire Council planning to make St Katherine’s short stay only from the New Year, Mr Collins and the other residents are facing a longer walk, to long stay bays at Bye Street car park.
Calls to make St Katherine’s car park short stay actually came from the town council.
But now the town council, led by Mayor Keith Francis, has reconsidered the issue and is asking Herefordshire Council to think again.
In support, Mr Collins has collected 300 signatures, asking for Bye Street car park to be made short stay instead.
