Town crier to be revealed at onion fair

THE new town crier of Newent will be revealed at the Onion Fair, on Saturday. September 13.
The successful candidate has been be selected after hopefuls sent in video clips online, to be assessed.
Newent’s mayor, Eddie Wood, said he was looking for a strong voice and loyalty and dedication to the town.
The previous town crier, the popular Willum Chapman, died in June last year, aged 87.
The council has been looking for a suitable replacement ever since.
