LEDBURY MP Bill Wiggin has criticised the Post Office for ignoring the public feedback to the consultation on the Government initiated closure programme.
Mr Wiggin, whose constituency will face more closures than any other in the West Midlands, slammed the Post Office for flying in the face of public opinion and refusing to make any changes to their plans.
The MP, who wrote to thousands of residents in the areas affected by closures, said: “It is every bit as bad as I feared. No real changes demonstrates that the Post Office may have be consulting but they did not really listen. So many local people have come forward outlining their concerns with the Post Office’s proposals.
“I received many helpful and practical suggestions, which included objections to the closures, changes to the hours of operation and different locations for the eight proposed outreach services. I put these forward to the Post Office in writing and again in a meeting I held at the end of September but am bitterly disappointed that my constituents and their suggestions have been ignored.
The branches to be closed include Edwin Ralph.
Outreach and hosted services are confirmed for, among others, Bishops Frome hosted service at The Chase Inn, and Cradley Partner Service at its current location.
