YOUNG people from Ledbury are expressing themselves at this year’s Ledbury Poetry Festival by performing their own style of poetry – rap.
Herefordshire Council’s youth workers have been working with pupils from John Masefield High School over the last four weeks, to write a number of raps which will be performed at the poetry festival on Saturday, July 11. The performances will then be taken to the Big Chill festival at Eastnor Castle on Sunday, August 9.
Around 40 youngsters aged 11-14 have been working with local hip hop stars The Anomolies, and London poet Shane Solanki as part of a school community arts programme.
In partnership with the Ledbury Poetry Festival and the Big Chill, the aim is to celebrate the creativity of the young people by encouraging them to express their views to a wider audience.
