Keep warm funds boost

A MAJOR funding boost should ensure vulnerable people in Herefordshire stay warm this winter.

Herefordshire Council has received a grant of £187,000 following a successful bid to the Department of Health’s warm homes healthy people fund.

The council’s private sector housing team has teamed up with 10 voluntary organisations to help reduce the effects of cold weather.

This will be done via the provision of cold weather packs, inspecting cold homes, extended opening hours at night shelters, extra meals and making heaters, draught exclusion kits and extra grab rails available. For more information, call 01432 260235.
