Fire tax is frozen again
9:10pm Tuesday 28th February 2012 in News
HEREFORD and Worcester Fire and Rescue Authority’s part of the council tax has been frozen for the second year running.
This means that for 12 months from April, the charge will remain at £73.64 – £1.42 a week – for a band D council taxpayer.
Members of the authority have approved the 2012/2013 budget for the Fire and Rescue Service in the two counties at £33.821m - a budget that requires no increase in council tax.
Councillor Derek Prodger, chairman of the authority, said: “In this challenging financial climate, the authority is more committed than ever to providing value for money and being efficient with its resources.
“Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service continues to be low spending yet high performing .”
