Good adoption result for council

THE adoption service in Herefordshire is performing above the national average, according to Government scorecards unveiled this week.

Ofsted uses the system to discover which local authorities are placing children with adoptive parents quickly and Herefordshire Council’s service returned good results in three key areas.

They were assessed on the average time between a child entering care and moving in with its adoptive family, the average time between the council receiving court authority to place a child and the local authority deciding on a match to an adoptive family and the number of children who wait less than 21 months between entering care and moving in with their adoptive family.

Councillor Patricia Morgan, responsible for health and wellbeing, said: “It is heartening to learn we are performing so well.”
