Please respect our speed limit

A SPEED indicating device (SID) on one of the main roads into Wellington Heath has shown motorists are regularly breaking the speed limit by 25mph or more, while travelling uphill.

Results from a SID placed in February on the Ledbury Road monitoring the speed of cars going towards the village reveal one in five motorists were going at a speed of 55mph or more.

A SID placed on the road in June 2011 found 19 per cent of motorists were driving at 55mph or more, and the latest figure from February shows that 20 per cent are now at fault. Parish councillor John Harrison has called the latest figures “totally unacceptable”.

He has put an appeal in the village’s latest newsletter calling for the 30mph limit to be respected before an accident happens.
