Poetry Festival just for the young

LEDBURY Poetry Festival will for the first time dedicate the last weekend of the July celebration to children’s events.

Festival spokeswoman Victoria Patch said the Out Loud celebration would be “a completely new thing, literally a festival within a festival.”

She added: “We think it is hugely important to inspire children with poetry.”

The ambitious event will be a pilot scheme this year, with a view to making it a permanent event in following years, perhaps with its own separate funding.

She said: “We will be looking at the attendance figures to see how popu lar it is.”

Fourteen events have been planned in total at venues including the Baptist Church, the Ledbury Children’s Centre and the Walled Garden.

The box office number is 0845 4581743.

Someone clearly needs to do a headline writing course. 'Poetry festival just for the young' is seriously misleading.

They also need to do a spelling course with words like popu lar.
