The MoD's contract with a private company could save taxpayers 71 million pounds
A private company has won a £36 million contract to run parts of the Ministry of Defence, the Government has announced.
Defence Secretary Philip Hammond said outsourcing parts of human resources, the finance department and security vetting at the MoD to Serco would save the taxpayer £71 million in the next four years.
Ministers have also conducted a "soft" marketing exercise to determine whether private companies could supply equipment to troops and manage military facilities.
In a written ministerial statement, Mr Hammond said: "Serco will be strongly incentivised to drive down costs and deliver efficiencies and we expect savings in the order of around £71 million to be achievable over the life of the contract."

Have we got any defence capability left? It would seem there are a lot of jobs going soon. I wonder if the current staff will be offered their jobs back at a worse rate of pay and conditions of course. The tories looking after their friends in the private sector again.
But the UK still packs one almighty punch in our military.
I don't agree with us using indiscriminate force but its nice to know we have the Astute class subs, the very latest destroyers, great tanks, missile systems, Typhoon aircraft etc. and fantastic military personnel.
I just hate it when they are placed in danger and misused by stupid politicians.
