HUNDREDS of bikers revved up for the biggest ride out ever in Halesowen on Sunday in honour of a Colley Gate cancer victim.

About 350 enthusiasts – including pillion riders – took part and have so far raised £1,700 for Macmillian Cancer Support in memory of Brandon Carter.

They set out from Streetbike’s Mucklow Hill premises on just under 300 machines at 9.30am for Brandon’s Memorial Ride to the Quatt cafe near Bridgnorth.

The Sandwell Bike Meet made a dream come true for Mr Carter in January when he rode a Harley Davidson in a 275-strong convoy along the same route, raising almost £650 for the charity.

The 27-year-old died from skin cancer in May and friend and bike enthusiast Wendy Abbey said the response to Sunday’s ride out had been “fantastic”.

Streetbike’s marketing manager Carl Dodds added: “It was the most we have had on one of these ride outs. The marshals did a great job and it went off like clockwork.

“A lot of bikers came on the original ride and a lot more people heard about this one especially through our Facebook and links to a lot of other bikers’ sites.

“And it was for a very good cause.”
