A NETHERTON woman has been told to behave herself by a judge after a drunken dispute turned violent.

Marcia Bannister, aged 39, grabbed another woman by the arm dislocating her shoulder because she felt she had given her a dirty look.

Bannister was the former partner of the victim's brother and she complained she had been ignored when she spotted her in the White House pub in Netherton.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Recorder Edward Hess told Bannister: "You should have known better than this. You must behave yourself in the future."

Emma Wynne-Owen prosecuting, told the court Bannister grabbed the woman by the arm and pulled and she maintained her grip despite being repeatedly asked to let go.

The victim was not able to carry out her work as a nurse because of the injury she suffered with Bannister later telling police officers she was "disgusted" with the way she behaved.

Mr Simon Hanns, for Bannister, said: "She perceived the other woman gave her dirty looks, it was more of a single pulling on the arm and she has shown remorse for her actions.

"What she did was out of character and was committed under the influence of alcohol. She would certainly not have behaved like this if she had been sober."

Bannister, of Cole Street, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and she was given a 20 week jail term suspended for two years coupled with 12 months supervision.

She was further ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work in the community, to pay the victim £750 compensation for her injury together with £535 costs.

The Recorder told her: "This should never have happened. I know a family relationship was behind this dispute.

"But, at your age, you should have known better than go down this route. What you did caused her to be badly injured. It was a very unpleasant experience for her."
