PUPILS at Sytchampton Endowed First School, near Droitwich, were given a rare opportunity to get revenge on their teachers and parents at a special event.

Children inflicted a freezing experience on the adults by helping drench them with water as part of an ice bucket challenge, which was organised in aid of a good cause.

The fundraiser raised awareness and money for Josh’s Prayers, a charity set up in memory of Stourport teenager Josh Jones who died in a tragic accident in May.

His parents Stephanie and Rob Jones set up the organisation to offer financial assistance to other bereaved parents in Worcestershire and to help lessen the burden of burial or cremation arrangements for families at a difficult time.

The event on Friday, October 10, also celebrated the fundraising efforts of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

Sharon Williams, head teacher at Sytchampton Endowed First School, said: “Over the last two years the PTA at Sytchampton have been brilliant, raising over £14,000 for our school, and have really helped us move forward.

“The school, staff, parents and PTA all work collectively as a community, enjoying lots of fun activities together.”

A new pirate play ship and sandpit for the school’s outdoor area, which will offer new opportunities for imaginative play, has also been ordered thanks to a recent £2,700 contribution from the PTA.

The new facility will be ready for pupils to use sometime in early 2015.
