A LATE-NIGHT Christmas shopping event has promised visitors “a great opportunity to stock up on festive goodies and unique gifts”.

Worcestershire County Museum at Hartlebury Castle will host the retail evening on Wednesday, December 3, from 5pm to 8pm, with its shop open for the duration.

The museum will be open too while seasonal entertainment from Tudor musicians and complimentary mulled wine and mince pies will bring a festive flavour to the event.

Rachel Robinson, the museum manager, said: “The festive period is an exciting time for wrapping up and going out as a family.

“This is a free event and is a rare chance to see the museum after dark.

“We hope that visitors will enjoy the festive spirit of the evening and take home some wonderful gifts for family and friends.”

The museum shop sells a wide range of cards, gifts and stocking fillers with prices to suit all pockets.

Shoppers can even purchase a limited edition, hand-painted bauble featuring Hartlebury Castle and the museum's collection of beautiful Gypsy caravans.

The shop is also home to the Worcestershire Guild of Designer Craftsmen, who create high quality, hand-made, contemporary craft pieces, including some beautiful jewellery.

Members of the guild will be on site during the evening to discuss and sell their work.

Guests can also visit The Castle Kitchen Cafe which will be open throughout the evening for those wishing to enjoy some home-made meals and snacks.

The museum's family event days - Christmas at the Castle - will also run next month on Sunday, December 7, Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14, from 11am to 5pm.

This traditional Christmas celebration includes seasonal craft and gift stalls, face painting, entertainment, children’s craft activities, performances by local choirs and the chance to meet Father Christmas.

A family entry ticket costs £13.
